Predicting More Than Just the Score of Super Bowl XLVII

Any yutz can make a Super Bowl prediction and there’s plenty of ’em from ESPN, CBS Sports, and Yahoo! Sports (predictions, that is, not yutzes).

I can throw numbers around with the best of them, but I want to see more bloggers, pundits and experts go out on a limb by detailing who is gonna score, how they’re going to score, at what time and in what quarter. So I’m gonna give it a shot and see how close I come to the actual scoring plays. If it’s a scoreless game heading into overtime, all bets are off.

1st Quarter

SF 3 – 0, David Akers 37 yard FG at 9:05

BAL 3 – 3, Justin Tucker 50 yard FG at 13:30

2nd Quarter

SF 10 – 3, Colin Kaepernick 40 yard TD run at 3:16 (XP good)

SF 17 – 3, Patrick Willis 35 yard fumble return for TD at 5:07 (XP good)

BAL 17 – 6, Justin Tucker 52 yard FG at 10:08

BAL 17 – 9, Justin Tucker 34 yard FG at 14:58

3rd Quarter

SF 20 – 9, David Akers 42 yard FG at 7:11

SF 27 – 9, Frank Gore 75 yard screen pass from Colin Kaepernick for TD at 8:59 (XP good)

BAL 27 – 17, Jacoby Jones 100 yard kickoff return for TD at 9:10 (Ray Rice run for 2-point conversion good)

4th Quarter

SF 34 – 17, Vernon Davis 50 yard pass from Colin Kaepernick for TD at 2:30 (XP good)

BAL 34 – 24, Anquan Boldin 15 yard pass from Joe Flacco for TD at 9:03 (XP good)

SF 37 – 24, David Akers 49 yard FG at 13:12

FINAL SCORE: 37 – 24, San Francisco
MVP: San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick

In my post tomorrow, I’ll evaluate these predictions. What do you think? Do you predict a lower- scoring game? Will the Ravens find a way to stop Kaepernick and San Francisco’s offense? Leave a comment below.
